BETHESDA — Dakarai Darr rushed for 136 yards on eight carries and scored the first two touchdowns of the night to lead undefeated Fort Hill to its sixth straight win, 47-3 over Walter Johnson Friday night in Bethesda.

After the Sentinels fell behind, 3-0, marking their first deficit of the season, Darr clipped off runs of 34 and 38 yards on consecutive possessions to put Fort Hill in control for the remainder of the evening.

Fort Hill quarterback Hunter Squires completed six passes for 160 yards, throwing a pair of touchdown passes to Ty Johnson and another one to Ryan Shives. Squires rushed for a touchdown as well. Charlie Twigg scored on a 48-yard run for the final Fort Hill touchdown of the night.

Fort Hill rushed for 274 yards on the evening, in totaling 434 yards of total offense, with the defense limiting the Wildcats to 35 yards passing and minus-6 rushing for 30 yards of total offense.

The Sentinels forced five turnovers in the game.

The Wildcats got off to a good start with Christian Campbell returning the opening kickoff 65 yards from the 15 to the Fort Hill 20, but Walter Johnson, after getting a first down, settled for a 33-yard field goal by Mark Murtha at 9:42 of the first to take a 3-0 lead.

Fort Hill would then use two possessions to get on the board, taking the ball at its 45 and needing just four plays to score, with Darr going over left side for a 34-yard touchdown run at 5:13, with Chris King’s kick making it 7-3.

The Sentinels got the ball right back and ran three plays before Darr broke loose for his second touchdown, a 38-yard run at 3:02 of the first. The drive, which was capped by King’s kick, lasted four plays, covered 59 yards and took just 38 seconds of clock.

Fort Hill linebacker Rashaan Shives then intercepted a Victor Riveiro pass at the Wildcats 32 and returned it to the 15 giving the Sentinels possession again. After Johnson broke three tackles to get to the 2, Squires took it across from a yard on the final play from scrimmage of the first quarter, with King’s kick making it 21-3.

The Sentinels took the ball right back at the Wildcats 39 and after a five-yard gain by Barnes, scored again when Squires found a wide-open Johnson at the 5 on his way to the fourth touchdown of the night with 9:09 left. The pass off the fake of the conversion was intercepted by Walter Johnson.

Fort Hill scored again on its next possession, with the second of two Squires-to-Ryan Shives completions covering 64 yards for the touchdown, with Shives breaking a tackle inside the 10 to complete the scoring play at 5:07 of the second.

Fort Hill took the ball at its 35 to start the second half with Darr picking up 34 yards on first down and 15 more two plays later. On first down from the Wildcats 16, Squires found Johnson for the touchdown pass at 10:22 to make it 40-3 and trigger the running clock on Maryland’s 35-point rule.

After Jaraslov Candler intercepted a pass in the fourth quarter, the Sentinels took over at midfield with Twigg taking it the distance to cover 48 yards for the touchdown and King’s kick making the eventual final 47-3.

Fort Hill (6-0), after three consecutive road games, returns to Greenway Avenue Stadium on Saturday to host Southern.
